An Indian lawyer-friend of Pakistani rights activist Ansar Burney moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday to secure his release. The two-country initiative comes after HT highlighted the plight of the boy, who crossed over to India chasing Bollywood dreams.
“My friend Ranjan Lakhan Pal has moved a writ (petition). This is a perfect case for compassion on humanitarian grounds,” Burney said.
Punjab DGP N.P.S. Aulakh said Nasir’s case would be taken up with the state government. “Since he violated the passport Act, we’ll have to examine what best can be done,” he said.
Nasir faces trial in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate JS Behniwal at Ferozepur. His case will be heard next on November 7.
A downcast Nasir got a pair of jeans and a T-shirt from an official at the Faridkot correctional home as other juveniles received gifts and sweets from relatives on Diwali eve.
Pal said the petition asked the court to direct the state government to withdraw the case as the offender was a minor and his offence unintentional. It pleaded for a government policy to treat minors humanely if they crossed the border inadvertently The petition is likely . to be heard on Wednesday .
The teenager, who is from North West Frontier Province (NWFP), has been coping with the double heartbreak of separation from his family and being held prisoner. Although Nasir heard about Diwali celebrations in India, he was visibly upset as family members of other children lodged in the juvenile home came with sweets and toys to meet them, but he spent most of his time by sitting in a corner.
On Monday, when Nasir, who speaks Punjabi and Urdu, was told that famous Pakistani artist Madeeha Gohar is in Punjab, he curiously asked, “Fauj ne use Girfftar keon nahi kiya” (Why army failed to arrest her?). When reminded that she came on valid visa, then he asked another ques tion, “Visa kaise milta hai, mujhe keon nahin diya giya” (how does one get visa, and why didn’t I get one?), showing his innocence about the laws of heavily guarded borders.
Moved by his story the Child , Development and Project Officer (CDPO) and Juvenile Home incharge, Chhinderpal Kaur, called the boy to give him money to buy a T-shirt and a jeans of his choice.
Nasir has urged the authorities to allow him to watch some TV programmes.
HT found out that so far 12 Pakistani children remained lodged in the Faridkot juvenile home after they crossed the border unknowingly .
According to available records, all the 12 children lodged in the juvenile home were found innocent.
However, they remained confined to the juvenile home for 30 to 52 months. About six children, some of them were not even able to tell the name of their motherfather and the village, who crossed border while playing with fellow friends remained lodged in the home for more than 40 months.

CHANDRAYAAN-I CLEARED the first hurdle during its long cruise towards the moon on Thursday and the “spacecraft is doing fine”, said project director Dr M. Annadurai.
The orbiter was nudged to a distance of 37,900 km from earth, up from the 23,860 km it attained after being hoisted into space by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle on Wednesday .
It circled the earth once in sixand-half hours during the first 24 hours and has responded well to all commands beamed from the Deep Space Network station at Byalalu, about 40 km from here, and ISRO’s Telemetry, Tracking and Command facility .
“We moved it to the precise orbit by firing the motor onboard for 1,058 seconds at 9 a.m. The first hurdle has been cleared and we hope everything goes off well till we take Chandrayaan-I to its orbit at 100 km from the moon — about 3,84,000 km from earth — on November 8.
We checked many parameters. The spacecraft is doing fine,” said the project director.
Over the next fortnight, Dr Annadurai said, the orbiter would be prodded further through similar firing of the motor onboard. The next orbit-raising manoeuvre would be carried out on Friday to push Chandrayaan-I to 70,000 km, followed by the third such operation after a gap of two days to achieve a distance of 100,000 km.
Four days later, the motor will be fired again to drive the orbiter to about 2,75,00 km. The final manoeuvre would be done after another gap of five-and-half days for it to reach the distance of 3,84,000 km.
Some minor corrections would be made to ensure the orbiter remains within the gravity of the moon, followed by the switching on of 11 instruments onboard.
Dr Annadurai said the Moon Impact Probe, with a miniature tricolour painted on it, would crash into the lunar surface on November 15. Space scientists plan to map the entire lunar surface for a detailed picture on composition of the soil (presence of minerals, chemicals, water, etc).

FIFTY YEARS ago, in October 1958, Jawaharlal Nehru wrote a short note explaining what India’s policies towards the tribals should be. He urged that tribal rights in land and forest be protected, that tribal arts and culture be respected and renewed, that the tribals themselves be involved in their own administration (thus ‘we should avoid introducing too many outsiders into tribal territory’), and that government schemes in tribal areas ‘work through, and not in rivalry to, their own social and cultural institutions’. As Nehru pointed out, ‘people should develop along the lines of their own genius and we should avoid imposing anything on them’.
Nehru’s prescriptions have been comprehensively disregarded by the Centre, as well as by the governments of the different states that have significant tribal populations.
The quality of schools and hospitals in tribal areas is abysmal. There has been little attempt to involve tribals in their own administration. Worse, State policies have worked actively to dispossess tribals of their land and homes, and to deny them their traditional rights in the forest.
As studies have shown, the tribals of central India have gained least and lost most from six decades of independence and economic development. Their access to education and health care is even more erratic than that of the Dalits.
Again, unlike the Dalits they usually go unrepresented in the higher levels of the bureaucracy, the judiciary, or the Union Cabinet. Where the political system has ignored them, the economic system has discriminated against them. Tribal lands are submerged to provide water to Hindu farmers and electricity to urban residents. Else they are taken over by mining companies seeking to service the growing global market for minerals such as iron ore and bauxite. At other times, they are the victims of development’s equally modern ‘Other’: conservation.
Thus a disproportionately high number of those displaced by national parks and sanctuaries are tribals.
The Indian State has treated its tribal citizens with contempt and condescen- sion; so, too, have the major political par- ties of independent India. This neglect has opened up a space for other actors to move into. Thus, in recent decades, three different kinds of missionaries have sought to increase their influence in trib al areas. These are the Christian mission- aries, the Hindu missionaries, and the Maoist missionaries.
These three groups each see in the tribals a vehicle for in- creasing their own social and political influence. Admittedly, each group does try to bring some tangible benefits to the tribals. From the late 19th century, the Christian missionaries have run schools and hospitals in adivasi areas. Since the 1950s, Hindu missionaries have emulated them, by opening their own set of pathshalas and clinics. The Maoists, for their part, do often at- tempt to get the tribals a higher wage for labouring in a landlord’s field, and higher rates for the collection of forest produce.
These welfare-oriented activities, how- ever, are merely a means. The end, in each case, is to convert the tribal to the reli- gious or political phi losophy of the group in question. The padre or nun hopes to make the tribal a Christian; the sant or sadhu hopes to make the tribal a Hindu; the comrade or party sec retary hopes to make him a Maoist revolu tionary Thus, if the .
State and the estab lished political parties have tended to treat the tribals as second-class citizens, Christian, Hindu, and Maoist missionar ies tend to treat them as cannon fodder.
Conventionally the term ‘missionaries’ , is reserved for the Christians. However, in tribal areas, the VHP and the Maoists must be considered missionaries, too, in that they seek, by blandishments or by force, to convert the tribals to their own worldview. These three groups work ener getically to augment their own flock at the expense of the others. Notably each group , has contempt for the history culture, , ideas, and aspirations of the tribals themselves. Each works not through, but in rivalry to tribal cultural institutions.
, Thus, Hindu and Christian schools teach tribals to forget their own Gods and embrace the Gods promoted by them.
Maoist meetings urge the tribals to replace their deities with the revolutionary trinity of Marx, Lenin, and Mao. At the same time, sadhu, sant, priest, nun, comrade and revolutionary have all shown little interest in the beauties of tribal art, folklore, music, and craftsmanship.
Tribal India has increasingly become a theatre for the competitive harvest of souls. In this rivalry the Christians are placed at a severe disadvantage. This is because the Maoists have behind them the power of the gun, whereas the Hindutva groups can command the power of the State apparatus.
Wherever the BJP is in government, whether by itself or in a coalition, it makes sure that it controls the Education and Home portfolios, the better to reshape the curriculum of government schools and to direct the actions (or, as the case may be, the inaction) of the police. This asymmetry lies behind the recent killings and beatings of Christians in Orissa, where the state administration has allowed the VHP and Bajrang Dal cadres to run amok for weeks.
Perhaps the violence in Orissa will soon stop; one certainly hopes it does.
But it is hard to see how, within the present configuration, the adivasi will ever be treated with the dignity and respect that Nehru called for. Short-sighted state governments will continue to dis possess tribals to humour urban popu lations or mining companies. Arrogant missionaries will continue to demand that tribals abandon their own culture to embrace that of the outsider.

इंदौर। मालेगांव बम धमाकों के सिलसिले में इंदौर के तीन लोग शक के घेरे में है। महाराष्ट्र पुलिस हिरासत में लेकर इनसे कड़ी पूछताछ कर रही है। बताया जा रहा है कि तीनों एक हिंदूवादी संगठन से जुड़े हैं। हालांकि संगठन ने इस पर कड़ी आपत्ति जताते हुए गिरफ्तार लोगों से किसी भी प्रकार के संबंध होने से इनकार किया है।
वहीं भाजपा सांसदों ने इस मामले पर राज्यसभा में जमकर हंगामा मचाया। उच्च पदस्थ पुलिस सूत्रों ने बृहस्पतिवार को कहा कि महाराष्ट्र पुलिस ने बेहद गुप्त कार्रवाई के तहत इन्हें 19 अक्टूबर को मोटरसाइकिल चोरी के मामले में जांच में मदद करने के लिए इंदौर से हिरासत में लिया था। इनके नाम श्याम साहू, दिलीप नाहर और धर्मेद्र बैरागी हैं। इन तीनों का संबंध हिंदू जागरण मंच से बताया जा रहा है।
दूसरी ओर, शहर के हिंदू जागरण मंच ने धमाकों में अपनी संदिग्ध भूमिका की सनसनीखेज खबरों को सिरे से खारिज किया है। हिंदूवादी संगठन का कहना है कि शक के घेरे में आए लोगों से उसका कोई प्रत्यक्ष या परोक्ष संबंध नहीं है।
पुलिस अभी यह साफ करने की स्थिति में नहीं है कि तीनों लोग अभी महाराष्ट्र पुलिस की हिरासत में हैं या इन्हें गिरफ्तार किया जा चुका है।
माना जा रहा है कि महाराष्ट्र पुलिस को शक है कि तीनों ने एक मोटरसाइकिल साइकिल चुराई थी जिसका इस्तेमाल 29 सितंबर को मालेगांव में धमाकों के लिए किया गया। इस सिलसिले में अबू फैजल उर्फ डा. फरहान नामक संदिग्ध सिमी कार्यकर्ता का नाम भी सामने आ रहा है।
संदेह है कि फैजल के कहने पर ही मोटरसाइकिल चुराई गई। लेकिन अब तक इस बात की आधिकारिक तौर पर पुष्टि नहीं हो सकी है। संगठन ने इन खबरों पर कड़ा एतराज जताया है। हिंदू जागरण मंच के प्रांतीय संयोजक राधेश्याम यादव ने कहा कि इंदौर के जिन तीन लोगों से मालेगांव धमाकों के सिलसिले में पूछताछ की जा रही है, उनसे हमारा कोई रिश्ता नहीं है। वहींभाजपा सांसदों ने इस मामले पर राज्यसभा में जमकर हंगामा मचाया।
गौरतलब है कि 29 सितंबर को महाराष्ट्र के मालेगांव में हुए धमाकों में पहले शक की सुई सिमी की ओर घूमती दिखाई दी थी। इसी दिन गुजरात के साबरकांठा जिले का मोदासा कस्बा भी बम धमाके से दहल उठा था।

इटावा। राज ठाकरे द्वारा लगाई गई आग की लपटों से महाराष्ट्रवासी भी झुलसने लगे है। गुरुवार को अप ओखा एक्सप्रेस में यात्रा कर रही मराठी छात्राओं को देख छात्रों का गुस्सा भड़क गया।
भरथना-अछल्दा स्टेशन के मध्य छात्रों ने छात्राओं के साथ छेड़छाड़ की तथा विरोध करने पर पत्थर भी चलाए। इस दौरान यात्रा कर रहे एक सिपाही की भी छात्रों ने पिटाई कर दी और भरथना स्टेशन पर उतर गए।
गोरखपुर से चलकर ओखा जाने वाली गाड़ी संख्या 5045 अप के कोच संख्या एस-9 में महाराष्ट्र प्रांत की स्काउट की छात्राएं अपने छात्र साथियों के साथ यात्रा कर रहीं थीं। फफूंद स्टेशन पर गाड़ी रुकते ही छात्र ट्रेन में सवार हो गए। पाली ब्लाक हट आते ही छात्रों ने महाराष्ट्र की छात्राओं के साथ छेड़खानी की तथा विरोध करने पर पिटाई भी की। इस दौरान यात्रा कर रहे एक बावर्दी सिपाही ने विरोध किया तो छात्रों ने उसे भी नहीं बक्शा। छात्रों ने विरोध करने वालों को कब्जे में लेकर पथराव भी किया। भरथना स्टेशन आते ही चैन पुलिंग कर उतर गए।
हालांकि पीड़ित छात्राओं व छात्रों ने मामला दर्ज कराने से इनकार कर दिया। आरपीएफ की निगरानी में ट्रेन को इटावा से रवाना किया गया तथा छात्राओं का कोच बदल कर उन्हे इंजन के पीछे लगे स्पेशल डिब्बे में बैठाया गया। पीड़ित छात्राओं ने दबी जुबान से कहा कि राज ठाकरे के कारण सजा उन्हे मिली है। रेलवे सुरक्षा बल के प्रभारी एमके गौतम ने जागरण को बताया कि मराठी लड़कियां भड़काऊ कपड़े पहने थीं जिनको देखकर स्थानीय छात्रों ने छींटाकशी और छेड़खानी की। इन लड़कियों के साथ लड़के भी थे जिन्होंने आपत्तिजताई जिस पर दोनों पक्ष आपस में भिड़ गए और मारपीट कर पथराव भी किया।
स्थानीय छात्र भरथना रेलवे स्टेशन से पहले चैन पुलिंग कर फोर्स के पहुंचने से पहले ही फरार हो गए। उन्होंने बताया कि पीड़ितों की ओर से थाने में कोई मामला दर्ज नहीं कराया गया है।

नई दिल्ली। भारत के अंतिम मुगल बादशाह बहादुर शाह जफर के दिल में हर वक्त अपने वतन की माटी के लिए तड़प बनी रहती थी। अंग्रेजों ने उन्हें देश निकाला दिया तो वह दो गज जमीन की हसरत लिए दुनिया से कूच कर गए लेकिन ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी के साथ अपनी जान बख्श देने के लिए कोई समझौता नहीं किया।
अंग्रेजों को चेतावनी देते हुए उन्होंने कहा था- हिंदियों में बू रहेगी जब तलक ईमान की तख्त ए लंदन तक चलेगी तेग हिन्दुस्तान की।
उनकी यह चेतावनी सही साबित हुई और आजादी के मतवाले स्वतंत्रता मिलने तक लगातार अपने प्राणों की आहुति देते रहे तथा जालिम अंग्रेजों की जान भी लेते रहे।
बर्मा की राजधानी रंगून [वर्तमान में म्यांमार और यांगून] में जब वह अपने जीवन के अंतिम दौर में थे तब वतन की याद में तड़पते हुए उनके लफ्जों से निकल पड़ा… कितना है बदनसीब जफर दफन के लिए दो गज जमीन भी न मिली कूए यार में..।
इन पंक्तियों में उनकी देशभक्ति ही नहीं बल्कि अपनी माटी के लिए उनके दिल में भरी मुहब्बत भी झलकती है।
बहादुर शाह जफर का जन्म 24 अक्तूबर 1775 को दिल्ली में हुआ था। बहादुर शाह जफर की इच्छा थी कि वह अंतिम सांस अपने देश में ही लें और उन्हें हिंदुस्तान में ही दफनाया जाए लेकिन वक्त ने उन्हें दूसरे मुल्क में मरने को मजबूर कर दिया। इसीलिए उनके दिल की आवाज इन पंक्तियों में छलक पड़ी। वह अपने पिता अकबर शाह द्वितीय की मौत के बाद 28 सितंबर 1838 को दिल्ली के बादशाह बने। उनकी मां ललबाई हिंदू परिवार से थीं।
1857 में जब आजादी की चिंगारी भड़की तो सभी विद्रोही सैनिकों और राजा महाराजाओं ने जफर को हिंदुस्तान का सम्राट माना और उनके नेतृत्व में अंग्रेजों की ईट से ईट बजा दी।
भारतीयों ने दिल्ली और देश के अन्य हिस्सों में आजादी की इस पहली लड़ाई में अंग्रेजों को कड़ी शिकस्त दी ्रलेकिन बाद में अंग्रेज अपने छल कपट से इस क्रांति को दबाने में कामयाब रहे। बहादुर शाह जफर ने हुमायूं के मकबरे में शरण ली लेकिन मेजर हडसन ने उन्हें उनके बेटे मिर्जा मुगल खिजर सुल्तान और पोते अबू बकर के साथ पकड़ लिया। अंग्रेजों ने जुल्म की सभी हदें पार कर दीं। जफर को जब भूख लगी तो अंग्रेज थाली में परोसकर उनके बेटों के सिर ले आए। इस पर भारत के इस अंतिम मुगल बादशाह ने अंग्रेजों को जवाब दिया कि देश के लिए सिर कुरबान कर हिंदुस्तानी बेटे अपने बाप के पास इसी अंदाज में आया करते हैं।
1857 की क्रांति को पूरी तरह दबा देने के मकसद से अंग्रेजों ने जफर को निर्वासित कर रंगून भेज दिया।
इतिहासकार मालती मलिक और के. सुरेंद्र के अनुसार 1857 की आजादी की लड़ाई अपने आप में काफी महत्वपूर्ण थी क्योंकि इसमें हिंदू और मुसलमान कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर फिरंगियों के खिलाफ लड़ रहे थे। इन दोनों समुदायों के सेनानियों के मन में एक दूसरे के प्रति किसी भी तरह की कोई सांप्रदायिक भावना नहीं थी।
बहादुरशाह जफर सिर्फ देशभक्त बादशाह ही नहीं बल्कि उर्दू के मशहूर कवि भी थे। उन्होंने बहुत सी कविताएं लिखीं जिनमें से अधिकतर 1857 के दौरान मची उथल पुथल के दौरान या तो खो गई या फिर नष्ट हो गई। रंगून की जेल में भी उनकी कविताओं का जलवा जारी रहा। उन्हें वहां हर वक्त हिंदुस्तान की फिक्र सताती रही लेकिन अंतिम सांस अपने देश में लेने और देश में ही दफनाए जाने की उनकी अंतिम ख्वाहिश पूरी नहीं हो पाई।
मुल्क से अंग्रेजों को भगाने का ख्वाब लिए सात नवम्बर 1862 को 87 साल की उम्र में उनका निधन हो गया। उन्हें रंगून में श्वेडागोन पैगोडा के नजदीक दफनाया गया। इस दफन स्थल को अब जफर दरगाह के नाम से जाना जाता है। उनके प्रति लोगों के दिल में सम्मान का अंदाजा इसी बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि भारत में जहां कई सड़कों का नाम उनके नाम पर रखा गया है वहीं पाकिस्तान के लाहौर शहर में भी उनके नाम से एक सड़क है। बांग्लादेश के विक्टोरिया पार्क का नाम बदलकर बहादुर शाह जफर पार्क कर दिया गया है।

मेलबर्न। एक ओर आस्ट्रेलिया के सलामी बल्लेबाज मैथ्यू हेडन ने सचिन तेंदुलकर को भारत में क्रिकेट के देवता की संज्ञा दी थी वहीं अन्य आस्ट्रेलियाई सलामी बल्लेबाज एडम गिलक्रिस्ट ने क्रिकेट के इस देवता पर झूठ बोलने का आरोप लगाया है।
इस पूर्व विकेटकीपर ने अपनी आत्मकथा ‘ट्रू कलर्स’ में लिखा है कि सचिन ने सिडनी टेस्ट में हुए भज्जी-सायमंड्स विवाद में अपना बयान बदलते हुए दोषी होने के बावजूद हरभजन का पक्ष लिया। गिलक्रिस्ट की आत्मकथा के कुछ अंश गुड वीकेंड पत्रिका में छपे हैं। गिलक्रिस्ट खास तौर पर तेंदुलकर के बर्ताव से दुखी थे। उन्होंने लिखा है कि तेंदुलकर ने सुनवाई में पहले कहा कि वह सुन नहीं पाए कि हरभजन ने क्या कहा था। बाद में अपील के दौरान सचिन ने कहा कि हरभजन ने हिंदी में कुछ कहा था जो मंकी की तरह सुनाई दिया। गिलक्रिस्ट के अनुसार हरभजन निश्चित तौर पर दोषी था और दौरा वापस लेने की भारत की धमकी अपमानजनक कार्रवाई थी।
अपने इस बयान के जरिए गिलक्रिस्ट ने भारत और आस्ट्रेलिया के बीच क्रिकेटीय रिश्तों में खटास चरम पर पहुंचा दिया है। गिलक्रिस्ट के अनुसार भारत और आस्ट्रेलिया के बीच सबसे बड़ा फर्क यही है कि आस्ट्रेलियाई खेल के दौरान होने वाली छींटाकशीं को मैदान पर ही छोड़ देते हैं लेकिन हमारे कुछ प्रतिद्वंद्वी ऐसा नहीं करते हैं। मसलन जब हम जीते तो सचिन तेंदुलकर चेंजिंग रूम में हाथ मिलाने नहीं आए। हरभजन को भी ऐसे मौके पर तलाशना मुश्किल होता था। किताब में गिलक्रिस्ट ने लिखा कि इस पूरे प्रकरण पर भारतीय खिलाड़ियों और भारतीय क्रिकेट नियंत्रण बोर्ड का रुख शर्मनाक था।
सिडनी टेस्ट के नाटकीय क्षणों के बारे में गिलक्रिस्ट ने लिखा कि अनिल कुंबले और ईशांत शर्मा उस समय किसी भी आस्ट्रेलियाई से बिना हाथ मिलाए पवेलियन लौट गए जबकि हम खेल से संबंधित शिष्टाचार जरूर निभाते हैं। गिलक्रिस्ट का यह आरोप हालांकि मौजूदा दौरे में भारत पर दबाव बनाने की रणनीति का हिस्सा भी हो सकता है।

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India (Reuters) – The Vatican has suspended a bishop in Kerala after a furore over his adoption of a young woman as his “spiritual daughter”, the state’s Catholic bishops’ council said.
Bishop John Thattungal, 58, of the diocese in Kochi city, met the 26-year old unmarried woman on a pilgrimage, and adopted her, saying she had extraordinary spiritual powers and that the relationship had given him a “spiritual renewal”.
Thattungal’s move created an uproar in the regional media in Kerala, which recently celebrated India’s first woman saint Alphonsa, who also hailed from the state.
“The bishop has been stripped of the administrative and religious responsibilities of the diocese, pending a probe into the charges as per a Papal decree,” said Father Stephen Althara, a spokesman for the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council.
The Vatican conducted an inquiry after a section of the Kochi clergy complained against Thattungal, saying his action was “morally and ecclesiastically wrong”.
Priests were permitted to marry in the first millennium of the Church’s history before the celibacy rule was adopted at the start of the second millennium.
Thattungal offered to withdraw the adoption if the Vatican held it improper, but the Kochi clergy maintained its demand for his removal.
Although Thattungal loses the title of bishop and many responsibilities, he will continue to celebrate Mass and perform other functions for the time being, Althara said.
He will also go to Rome to explain his stand to the Congregation of Bishops.

MANGALDAI/ROWTA CHARIALI, Oct 22: Inscribing “rape us” on their chests, more than 4,000 agitated and aggrieved village women belonging to a section of the society from various corners of Udalguri district today blocked NH 52 at Rowta Chariali in a unique way to lodge their protest against the failure on the part of the State Government to arrest the CRPF jawans who allegedly outraged the modesty of two indigenous women at village Bhalukmari near Rowta in Udalguri district on October 19. The women took part in the NH-52 blockade from 12.30 pm onwards in protest against the failure of the government to conduct the test identification parade (TIP) of the jawans in the presence of a judicial magistrate.
Senior police and civil officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, who rushed to Rowta Chariali had to face the wrath of the agitators who alleged that a conspiracy was hatched by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to tamper with the medical examination reports of the victims. The medical examinations conducted at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital on October 20 gave negative results. The agitated women refused to accept the medical reports.
Despite repeated assurances given by the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of Udalguri, no TIP has been conducted to identify the accused CRPF jawans till this evening.
However, following a written assurance from the Udalguri Deputy Commissioner to conduct the TIP and arrest the accused jawans within 12 noon of October 23, the agitators withdrew the NH blockade. source: the sentinel assam 23.10.08
